Day-by-Day Itinerary

Depart Nairobi at 06:00 AM for Nanyuki (3.5 hours). Complete park entry at Sirimon Gate and begin trekking through montane bamboo and podocarpus forest at approximately 11:00. Reach Old Moses Camp (3,300m) by late afternoon. Acclimatization walk and overnight. Meals: Packed lunch and Dinner | Overnight: Mountain Hut, Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Trek through open moorland crossing streams and traversing Mackinder's Valley. Giant groundsel trees, rock hyrax colonies, and sweeping alpine views throughout the day. Arrive at Shipton's Camp (4,200m) by early afternoon. Summit day briefing from your lead guide covering protocol, timing, and safety. Depart at 02:00 AM by headtorch. Ascend the moraine and scree slopes to Point Lenana summit by dawn (approximately 05:30–06:00 AM). Breathtaking 360-degree panorama at sunrise over Kenya's plains, the Aberdare Range, and on clear days, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Route Overview

Nairobi to Nanyuki to Sirimon Gate (2,650m)

Road transfer north from Nairobi to Nanyuki town, then to the Sirimon Gate on the northwest slopes of Mount Kenya. Journey approximately 3.5 hours.

Old Moses Camp (3,300m) to Shipton's Camp (4,200m)

Two days of acclimatizing ascent through montane forest and open afroalpine moorland via the scenic Sirimon track and Mackinder's Valley.

Summit — Point Lenana (4,985m)

Pre-dawn push to the summit via the Harris Tarn moraine and scree slopes. Arrive at summit at sunrise for the most spectacular views in Kenya.

Chogoria Descent to Nairobi

Descend via the Gorges Valley and Chogoria rainforest to Chogoria Gate, before the road return to Nairobi.

Mount Kenya National Park fees for non-residents are charged separately per official KWS rates. Fees contribute directly to conservation and anti-poaching efforts within the park.
